In 1959 I went on a school holiday to Achensee. I was 16 at the time and this was my first visit abroad and still remember the rack railway but we did not go on it. We walked on the track and were told off!
We travelled there and back by train and ferry.
A nice holiday but the weather was not very good.

THANK you VERY much for this video. I hope to visit Achensee this summer so it's LOVELY to see this and get a taste of the area and the journey.
Very nice
The equpment at 17:40 is called Pulsometer. It's a pistonless waterpump and it works by steam. Please look for Thomas Savery.
Riding the trains in Europe is a great way to travel in Europe. Great views and everyone is friendly on the train. It is the best way to get around Europe.
hope one day to go there and take the train rides through where you traveled! just seeing this on video is so beautiful, Could not imagine seeing it in person. I will take multiple train rides all over the country sides and so on.
Great! nice to see this video, … Tomorrow i will be there for a little Holiday so … good advice!
Beautiful country and a beautiful trains too.
Que ferrovia linda, muito bem conservada, vocês preservam o passado com muito carinho, parabéns.
FYI: If you notice that when the train is in the mountainous areas, there is a 3rd Rail going down the center. The reason for that is this track is a braking rail so the train doesn't run away. The 'brakeman' can lower a toothed mechanism to hold the train on inclines if it were to stop or has an emergency. Simple idea design.
I can completely understand the fun and nostalgia riding this Old steam train into these beautiful mountain towns. Probably some of the cleanest air on Earth… until the train goes through. That's not STEAM we see at 20minutes into – that's Coal Smoke just floating over that lake and changing that wonderful clean air into == well, see for yourself what these Over-60s Tourists have paid for.
I am happy that the train that hauled you is still running.
